These throwback photos are making me miss the old studio. Although I much prefer the studio we are at now, I loved the “lived-in” vibe of the old space. It felt like I could create a more realistic depiction and story for the images.

Sometimes I forget we as artists, or at least I need to create often. I think there is a lot of fragility in what we do and art helps us to express and overcome that. Our sense of self is very much tied into the art and when you monetize that, it takes away some of that creativity. Finding my roots has to be constant to keep up with the demand for creativity.

Back in 2021 I felt like I had not been creating enough due to everything that started the year prior. I felt like I hadn’t been doing enough to improve my work and I was just coasting on my skills. That’s when I came up with an idea I called “Girl Boss Sessions.” I had come up with many ideas that year, and shot a lot of new work, but I just stumbled across these today and wanted to share them.

I’ve been creating art through photography for a living for the past 13 years now, and it’s been a journey with so many ups and down. I have learned a lot and also realized I don’t know very much in the same breath. One thing I did realize was that when you make something you are passionate about into your career, it makes it hard to find time to create just for the hell of it. Yes, I get to work with amazing clients and bring their visions to life, and most of the time I get full creative control. It’s just…

First I will say I was super apprehensive about this shoot. Super nervous to where I was like I should just message Jarrett and tell him he can keep my Money and I won’t be coming. But I didn’t I just decided to do it. Just jump? Right?
