Silver Lake Sand Dunes | Boudoir Session

One morning I woke up, and I was like. “You know what would be so cool? Photographing boudoir portraits in the sand dunes.” So later that day, I opened up my calendar, found a weekend that worked, and posted to Instagram. (Okay, maybe it took me the week to put together and this wasn’t the first time I had this idea, but it was the first time I put the plan into action.)

I made a post saying something along the lines of “I have two days to shoot some really exciting photos and I’m looking for 3-4 women who might be interested in a boudoir session in Michigan’s Silver Lake Sand Dunes.” I didn’t charge much for the shoots, just enough to cover my gas and hotel stay for two nights. This was my first time coordinating an adventure boudoir session and I didnt know what to expect. I just wanted to make the dream/ idea a reality!

My whole point for writing this blog is… If you are reading this and you are a photographer, take chances, make plans, and make your dreams come to life. If you have an idea, make a plan, and put that idea into an action… Trust me, its so worth it!

If you are in the market for a boudoir session, or you just believe in what boudoir stands for… Maybe you’re a past, present, or future client reading this. Please support your local artist when they have wild ideas. Inspiration is hard to come by and stagnation is so real. Even more than that… Don’t be afraid to go on an adventure, take risks, invest in yourself, do something outside your comfort zone.
