HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR BOUDOIR SESSION

Boudoir sessions are all about your journey, the experience of seeing yourself for who you are in this moment, and feeling empowered by self love. All those moments of excitement, nervousness, and anticipation have led up to this point.

All of a sudden you feel horribly unprepared for your session… I came up with a quick checklist to make sure you are well prepared for your session and ready to go the day of!

Pre-packed Boudoir Bag Checklist

1. Three Outfits Plus a Few Extras

Bring some of your favorite outfits and a few more. Allow your photographer to narrow them down based on what will photograph best.

2. Accessories

Less is more. Examples of what to pack can include: a body chain, thigh-highs, heels, robe, etc.

3. Water + Light Snacks

You wouldn’t believe how hungry you might get during a session. Make sure to pack a granola bar or some fruit.

Preparing for your Boudoir Session

What to Wear (4-6 Weeks Prior)

1. Begin fantasizing about your ideal boudoir outfits.
Shop your closet for your favorite pieces you already own, shop some of your favorite lingerie stores, and checkout this wardrobe styling guide to get some more ideas about what to wear. Think outside the box and don’t be afraid to try something that’s a little out of your comfort zone.

2. Choose 3-5 Outfits
Narrow down your outfit choices to 3-5 favorite outfits. Don’t be afraid to pack extra options if you need help choosing.

3. Think Beyond the Shoot
Think about how you want to preserve your photos. An album, wall art, or just digitals.

Do’s & Don’ts (3-5 Days Prior)

1. Wax or shave and moisturize.

2. Avoid spray tans or tanning lotions. No matter how natural tanning sprays and lotions may seem, they create an orange glow.

3. Drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin.

4. Remove all price and sizing tags from lingerie. Even the permanent ones.

Prep Day (1-2 Days Prior)

1. Get a fresh manicure.

2. Avoid alcohol and drink plenty of water to hydrate your skin.

3. Wash your hair. (A lot of people ask if they should hold off washing their hair to hold better curls, this is not necessary.)

4. Moisturize your skin.

5. Pack your boudoir bag the night before to ensure the essentials aren’t forgotten. (You could even take it a step further and separate each outfit into its own Ziploc bag.)

6. Double check your list, relax, and get ready to be pampered.

7. Stretch your hips, legs, and back muscles. A lot of the poses require a degree of flexibility.

Session Day

1. Arrive with a clean and moisturized face. Our in house hair & makeup artist will pamper you.

2. Moisturize your entire body.

3. Wear loose fitting clothing and undergarments to avoid impressions on the skin.

4. Eat a light meal that will ensure you’re satisfied but not bloated.
