Real Boudoir Experiences
Client Stories From Becoming Fire Boudoir
What is a boudoir session actually like?
You can look through a portfolio and see the finished photographs, but the images only tell part of the story.
Every client arrives with a different reason for booking. Some are nervous about being in front of the camera. Some aren't sure they'll feel comfortable. Some want to create an unforgettable gift. Others simply decide it's time to do something for themselves.
These are real stories from women who have stepped in front of my camera and experienced boudoir photography for themselves.
From first-time nerves to confidence, from creating a gift to celebrating yourself, each session is different.
Turning Nerves Into Confidence
A Boudoir Experience with Miss A
Miss A had already trusted me to photograph her wedding, but boudoir photography felt completely different.
In the weeks leading up to her session, she was nervous about what to expect. We talked through the details, including outfits and how the session would work, and I reassured her that I would guide her through everything.
When we started shooting, something changed.
Within about five minutes, her body language shifted and the tension began to disappear. By the end of the session, she was laughing, dancing around the room, and having so much fun that she wanted to do another session almost immediately.
Her experience is a perfect example of why you don't need to arrive at your session already feeling confident.
Sometimes the confidence comes once you realize you're comfortable, you're being guided, and you can simply enjoy yourself.
“The patience this man has is unmatched, the ability he has to make you feel comfortable in a truly uncomfortable situation is unreal.”
Empowering Boudoir Photography
Miss A's Story: Finding Confidence Through the Boudoir Experience
Miss A came into her session with a deeply personal reason for wanting to experience boudoir photography. She wanted to challenge the way she saw herself, reconnect with her confidence, and learn to feel comfortable in her body.
She was nervous going into the session and had little experience posing in front of a camera. Instead of needing to know what to do, she was able to rely on direction throughout the shoot.
The experience became something much bigger than simply creating photographs.
She described the session as relaxed, no-pressure, and fun. She felt safe and comfortable in the studio and said the experience allowed her to forget about her insecurities and simply enjoy being herself.
“I felt safe, appreciated, beautiful and empowered.”
When You're Nervous About Being Photographed
Miss A's Boudoir Experience
Before booking her session, this client had plenty of questions running through her mind.
Was she in good enough shape? Was the investment worth it? What if she was awkward in front of the camera? And what would it be like working with a male photographer?
She ultimately decided to take the chance.
When she arrived at the studio, she was nervous enough to describe herself as “shaking in my boots.” The first few minutes of the shoot felt strange, but with direction and encouragement, she began to relax.
By the end, she felt much more comfortable and confident.
Her story is a great reminder that nervousness doesn't mean you're not ready for boudoir.
“After those first 10 minutes I began to feel WAY more comfortable and confident with the help and direction from Jarrett.”
You Don't Have to Know How to Pose
Miss K's Boudoir Experience
Miss K nearly canceled her session because she was so nervous.
She had never done anything like this before, and even though she felt comfortable during hair and makeup, those nerves came back when it was time to start shooting.
Instead of expecting her to know what to do, I took over the direction.
I guided her through the poses, asked permission before adjusting her hair or hands, and kept the process respectful and comfortable.
As the session continued, she became more fluid and started focusing on the direction instead of worrying about what she was doing.
When she received her photographs, she said it was a major confidence boost and immediately wanted to book another session.

When You Want to See Yourself Differently
Miss C's Boudoir Experience
For Miss C, stepping in front of the camera was completely new territory.
She was nervous about working with a male photographer and wasn't sure what the experience would feel like.
Within about ten minutes, she felt comfortable.
She described the experience as respectful and professional and found that the direction during the shoot helped her relax and enjoy the process.
When she received her photographs, she had such a hard time choosing her favorites that it took nearly a week.
“I felt like I finally got to see myself how others see me!”
Boudoir Doesn't Have to Be a Gift for Someone Else
Sometimes You Just Become the Fire
Miss W had thought about doing boudoir for years.
The problem was that she kept telling herself she needed a reason.
Most of the women she knew who had done boudoir had done it as a gift for a husband or significant other. Since she wasn't married or engaged, she kept putting the idea off.
Eventually, she realized she didn't need a reason.
She booked a session as a Christmas gift to herself.
What followed was one of the most fun and rewarding experiences she had ever done. She left feeling more comfortable in her own skin, more confident, and proud that she had finally done something simply because she wanted to.
“The reality was: I had no reason NOT to do it!”
Creating a Boudoir Gift
A Session for Someone Special
For another client, the reason for booking was different.
She wanted to create something special as a gift for her soon-to-be husband, but she was intimidated by the idea of doing a boudoir shoot.
She had never really thought of herself as sexy or seductive. She described herself as a goofball who laughs at everything.
The session gave her the opportunity to bring that personality into the photographs while also discovering a side of herself she hadn't expected.
She left feeling beautiful, sexy, and proud of who she was.
“I was also able to tune into my inner-sexiness, while showing my true personality.”
When You Already Have a Vision
Miss A's Fitness Boudoir Session
Sometimes a client doesn't need to be convinced to do boudoir.
She already knows exactly what she wants.
The challenge is finding someone who can take that idea and turn it into photographs.
This client had actually completed a boudoir session with another photographer shortly before coming to me, but the photographs hadn't captured what she was looking for.
She came into her session with a vision.
From outfit suggestions before the shoot to posing, expressions, lighting, and composition during the session, we worked together to bring that vision to life.
Her reaction afterward said everything.
“He literally took the vision I had for my session out of my head and told the story with photos.”
An Experience Built Around You
Miss T's Ann Arbor Boudoir Session
Not every client comes into the studio with a complicated story.
Sometimes you simply want a great experience, beautiful photographs, and a photographer who makes the process easy.
Miss T described her studio experience as comfortable and exactly what she was looking for.
“Such an amazing experience with Jarrett! The studio was perfect and exactly what I was looking for. It was so comfortable and easy to get so many amazing pictures.”

What These Stories Have in Common
There isn't one type of person who books a boudoir session.
Some clients are nervous.
Some are confident.
Some have never been photographed professionally before.
Some know exactly what they want.
Some have no idea what they're supposed to do once the camera comes out.
Some are creating a gift.
Some are doing it entirely for themselves.
You don't need modeling experience to book a boudoir session.
You don't need to know how to pose.
You don't need to know what to do with your hands.
And you don't need to walk through the door already feeling completely confident.
That's where my direction comes in.
I'll guide you through the poses, expressions, movement, and details of the session so you always know what to do next.
The goal isn't for you to show up knowing how to be a model.
The goal is for you to show up as yourself and let me handle the photography.
